On April 17-20, Grapevine High School and Colleyville Heritage High School golf teams competed at the UIL 5A Region 1 Championship, where GHS sophomore Chloe Sirkin won the individual championship.
Sirkin has now advanced to the UIL 5A State Tournament, which will be hosted by White Wing Golf Club in Georgetown on May 15-16.
Sirkin headed into the final day of the tournament leading with a 1-under-par score. She would close out her impressive performance with an eagle to finish at 3-under-par and an eight stroke lead, becoming the fourth Mustang in the last seven years to win an individual Regional Championship.
GHS Head Golf Coach Bryan Humphreys said, “What Chloe accomplished this week was her best golf of her young high school career. We had a goal of making her a state champion before she graduates and she's on the right path.”
This will be Sirkins second state appearance, hoping to become the first GHS women's golf individual state champion since Hollie Frizzell won back-to-back titles in 1983 and 1984.
