GCISD Student Device Check

Now is a great time to look at your child's GCISD-issued devices and ask them about any issues they may be having. This way we can ensure that they have a successful start of school in August with a fully functioning device.

If there are any issues and they are in the eligible grades listed below, please have your student submit a helpdesk ticket before July 25. They will receive instructions on where to drop the device for repair. This will ensure the device can be repaired and returned well before the start of the school year.

  • Students who will enter the following grades in the 2024-2025 school year are eligible to have their device repaired this summer: 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6-8th, and 10th-12th grades.

  • Students entering 5th and 9th grade in the 2024-2025 school year will receive new devices when school starts.

Once repaired, you and your child will receive an email with an option to pick up the device over the summer at one of our 24/7 kiosk pickup points.

We appreciate you taking the time to look at your child’s device. Some common issues include:

  • Keys missing

  • Broken screen

  • Cracks or dents on the exterior

  • Battery not holding a charge

  • Anything else you feel is just not working right

Please help us get these items fixed so your student is ready to kick off a successful school year in August.

Tickets for devices submitted after July 25, will be referred to the campus technician and scheduled for repair after school starts unless the device is completely unusable.

Personal Laptops on GCISD Campuses

Beginning in August 2022, personal PC or MacBook laptops will no longer be able to connect to the internet while on a GCISD campus. This means that students will need to use a district-issued device while on campus. District-issued devices are already required during standardized state testing, but will now be required at all times when using the internet on a GCISD campus. More information, including frequently asked questions can be found here.
