📝 After a delayed start today, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD will return to its regular schedule tomorrow, January 17, 2024. We're excited for a full day of learning. See you in the classrooms! 📝
It's a new year and a new opportunity to learn more about our staff with Teacher Tidbit Tuesday!
Today we're featuring Ms. Kae from our Special Education department.
Brandy Kae is married and has 3 kids - 16 year old twins and a 12 year old CTMS Wolf. she loves to knit, watch old movies, and is the biggest Dolly Parton fan I know.
She went to SMU and majored in Theatre/playwriting with a minor in Religious Philosophy and attended Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland to study Irish Theatre history. And here's a fun fact... She won an Emmy!
Ms. Kae has a passion for working with our RISE students and lights up any room she walks into. We're so thankful that she's a Wolf.
Grapevine-Colleyville ISD will open with a two-hour delayed start Tuesday, January 16, 2024, to allow staff to prepare campuses and bus drivers ample time to safely transport our students to school. School will begin at the following times for each campus:
Elementary Schools: 9:40 a.m.
Middle Schools: 10:10 a.m.
High Schools: 10:40 a.m.
Collegiate Academy: 10:35 a.m.
Early Childhood Special Education sessions will also begin on a two-hour delay
Morning Extended Day Program will begin on a two-hour delay
Early Childhood Development Center will also begin on a two-hour delay
All staff members, other than transportation and facilities services staff needed to prepare for school operations, should report to work two hours after their regularly scheduled start time. Secondary campuses will communicate their revised bell schedules for the day with their families and staff.
Dismissal will be at the normal time at all campuses. Information regarding after-school activities will be communicated directly by the specific activity teacher, director, or coach.
Bus rider families are encouraged to sign up for Transportation Services’ SMART Tag Parent Portal, where parents can be notified when their child’s bus is nearing the stop.
This plan is based on the information that our district leaders have at this time. The district will continue to monitor weather conditions, and if there are any changes to this plan, the district will continue to communicate those details through www.GCISD.net, email, text messages (for those subscribed), the GCISD mobile app and official GCISD social media accounts.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we monitored this arctic blast. We look forward to seeing our staff and students back at school tomorrow!
**Please note that this change to the schedule does not impact iUniversity Prep staff or students.
Secondary GT/ASPIRE Testing Referral Window: The referral window for GT/ASPIRE testing for middle and high school students is open from January 8-31. Parents will sign students up for testing in Skyward.
Due to potentially hazardous road conditions, Grapevine-Colleyville ISD has canceled all student activities, rehearsals or practices planned for Monday, January 15. District administrators continue to monitor weather conditions and will communicate any additional changes as they are available.

It's time for Teacher Tidbit Tuesday, and this week we're featuring Tori Yates! Ms. Yates graduated from UTA with a degree in Philosophy. She wasn't sure what she wanted to do, so she travelled and sold jewelry, but in the back of her mind, she always knew she wanted to be a teacher. She applied for positions at CTMS and another GCISD campus who shall remain anonymous, but felt the pull of the Pack; she was drawn to the community that she knew would help her grow. After spending two years as a para in the RISE class, she pursued her certification and has been our RISE teacher for 7 years!
Ms. Yates is married, and they have a dog named Bohdi and a black cat name Isabeau. She still loves to travel, and her favorite trip was to New Zealand, where she did a Lord of the Rings tour!
And now, a note from your local, humble librarian, Tori is one of the kindest, most loyal people I know. Whether it's advocating for her students or being there for a friend, Tori wears her heart on her sleeve and we're so thankful she's part of our Wolf Pack.
Join the Herd and Pack for their Winter Concert on Tuesday at Grapevine High School. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.
Friday, December 1, is the last day for the CTMS PTA pajama drive and CTMS pajama day. All wolves are encouraged to bring pajamas to donate and to wear their favorite school appropriate pajamas.
It's time for Teacher Tidbit Tuesday, and this week we're featuring Andrew Simmons!
Mr. Simmons loves supporting Maths teachers, new teachers, and any teacher in his role as Maths Department Learning Leader.
Mr. Simmons graduated from LSU (Geaux Tigers) in 2008 with a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy. He met his wife (Mrs. Simmons at Heritage Elementary) at Pine Cove in 2006, and moved to Texas in 2008 to live and work at Pine Cove.
Before teaching, he used to do team building events at Group Dynamix, and was also a Master Teacher at Emler swim school, teaching babies all the way to swim team. One of the things that has been great about being at CTMS is having former swimmers as students, as well as former 1st or 2nd graders that his wife taught.
His biggest win as a teacher is whenever a student says they didn't like or didn't get Maths but they enjoyed his class.
His favorite activities outside of work are going to Dave and Busters with his kids, taking in as many concerts as possible, and playing disc golf.
And, a note from your humble, local librarian, Andrew is our tech guru, and he is always willing to share what he's learned. Distance learning was made possible for many of our teachers because he made it so. We are so thankful that Mr. Simmons is part of our Pack!
Enjoy the Thanksgiving break! Looking forward to seeing our wolves back on Monday, November 27, 2023.
