Last night, the district hosted its third Leadership GCISD class this semester, presented by the Schools team. Attendees received a personal tour of the athletics, fine arts and career & technical educational facilities as they learned more from staff members and students involved with those programs. They also received an informational presentation about student services and counseling. If you are interested in applying for the class, which will be offered again in the spring semester, please do this through the Committee application on www.gcisd.net/committees and select “Leadership GCISD.”

The celebrations continue for GCISD’s Collegiate Academy at Tarrant County College Northeast, which was recently named one of just 356 schools in the 2024 cohort of National Blue Ribbon Schools! The school was honored at the National Blue Ribbon Schools Awards Ceremony in Washington, D.C., on November 7 and 8. #WeAreGCISD
Last week, GCISD Nutrition Services brought storytime to lunch with a special Literary Lunch event at our elementary campuses! Students enjoyed a reading of Creepy Carrots while enjoying tasty ginger carrots inspired by the story. Glenhope Elementary students and teachers volunteered at Grapevine's Arbor Day event on November 2, organized by Keep Grapevine Beautiful and the city’s Parks and Recreation department. This event is part of Glenhope’s fifth-grade community service initiative, where students regularly volunteer in the community. Past efforts have included organizing a lemonade stand for GRACE, playing board games with individuals with special needs, volunteering at an animal shelter, visiting a retirement home and participating in community clean-ups. Great job, Gators!
Colleyville Heritage High School senior Nicole Namy was recently named the Texas Girls State Samsung American Legion Scholarship finalist, advanced to the national level, and selected as one of 10 national runners-up out of a field of 4,955 applicants, earning a $5,000 scholarship. Since the scholarship's inception, this is only the third time a Texas Girls State honoree has advanced to receive a national-level scholarship. Congratulations, Nicole!

On Tuesday, November 5, Mayor Tate presented the CHHS golf team with the Gallacher Cup at the Grapevine City Council Meeting. This trophy celebrates their victory in a competitive golf tournament against West Lothian, our sister city school from Scotland, during the team’s recent visit to the Lone Star State. #WeAreGCISD

The CHHS Premier Panteras and the GHS Fabulous Fillies participated in the inaugural DFW Area Texas Dance Educators' Association Dance/Drill Team Fall Assessment on Monday, November 4. If Proposition A: the Voter Approved Tax Ratification Election (VATRE) passes, the $6 million in additional revenue would be used to fund daily operating expenses such as staff, instruction, transportation, maintenance, utilities and extracurricular activities. Last night, Argyle Liberty Christian and Grapevine High School played the first outdoor stadium volleyball match in Texas high school sports history at Liberty Christian’s Warrior Stadium. The game was under the bright lights and in 20-mile-an-hour winds on a court used for the last three NCAA Volleyball Championships. Despite the different conditions, the Mustangs won in four sets. Congratulations!

Did you know that even with the three additional "golden pennies" from the passage of the VATRE, the total tax rate (Maintenance & Operations plus Interest & Sinking) will be lowered by $0.0014 from the 2023 total tax rate? This is due to state compression on the M&O tax rate and a board-approved decrease on the Interest & Sinking tax rate.
