Last night, the district hosted its third Leadership GCISD class this semester, presented by the Schools team. Attendees received a personal tour of the athletics, fine arts and career & technical educational facilities as they learned more from staff members and students involved with those programs. They also received an informational presentation about student services and counseling. If you are interested in applying for the class, which will be offered again in the spring semester, please do this through the Committee application on www.gcisd.net/committees and select “Leadership GCISD.” We also want to thank Wise Guys Pizzeria for donating the delicious dinner for the class. #WeAreGCISD

Glenhope Elementary students and teachers volunteered at Grapevine's Arbor Day event on November 2, organized by Keep Grapevine Beautiful and the city’s Parks and Recreation department. This event is part of Glenhope’s fifth-grade community service initiative, where students regularly volunteer in the community. Past efforts have included organizing a lemonade stand for GRACE, playing board games with individuals with special needs, volunteering at an animal shelter, visiting a retirement home and participating in community clean-ups. Great job, Gators!

Did you know that GCISD’s tax rate is one of the lowest in North Texas? If voters approve a three-cent increase to the Maintenance and Operations (M&O) tax rate through the VATRE, the district would still rank among the lowest rates in the area. Learn more about Proposition A and what's at stake by visiting www.gcisd.net/VATRE.

Tomorrow, November 1, is the last day for early voting. Before you go to the polls, know what's on your ballot. If Proposition A: the Voter Approved Tax Ratification Election (VATRE) passes, the $6 million in additional revenue would be used to fund daily operating expenses such as staff, instruction, transportation, maintenance, utilities and extracurricular activities. Learn more by visiting www.gcisd.net/VATRE.

Are you ready for the final Principals Month highlight? Let’s celebrate Collegiate Academy’s Principal, Lauren Jackson! Her favorite thing about CA is the achievement-focused mindset shared by students and staff alike. Thank you, Ms. Jackson, for your dedication to your school and GCISD! #WeAreGCISD

How long have you been principal? Almost one year! I've served in many roles at GCISD Collegiate Academy over the last eight and a half years. What makes you excited to come to work every day? The achievement-focused mindset of our students and staff alike is nothing short of remarkable. What is your favorite GCISD memory? Pickleball with our CA team at Convocation. What is one lesson you think students should learn by the time they have graduated from GCISD? The importance of resilience. Realizing that setbacks may be part of the journey and the opportunity to persevere will always serve them.
Only a few days remain before early voting closes. Before heading to the polls, make sure you're informed about Proposition A: the Voter-Approved Tax Ratification Election (VATRE). Did you know that even with the three additional "golden pennies" from the passage of the VATRE, the total tax rate (Maintenance & Operations plus Interest & Sinking) will be lowered by $0.0014 from the 2023 total tax rate? This is due to state compression on the M&O tax rate and a board-approved decrease on the Interest & Sinking tax rate. Learn more: www.gcisd.net/proposition-a
