iUniversity Prep found a new way to bring collaborative art to life through their traveling mural! Thanks to a Star Teaching Grant from the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation, students submitted artwork that was compiled into a design, which then traveled across Texas to be painted by students at in-person meetings.
The mural’s journey began in Houston on March 4, where students painted the first panels. Then, on March 7, the creativity continued in Grapevine at a student meet-up! During these two painting sessions, Owls connected, collaborated and created something truly special together. Once the final touches are added to the mural, the display will be in public view at the Owl Expo.

Additionally, all GCISD schools, including Collegiate Academy and iUniversity Prep, will be closed for Spring Break Monday, March 17- Friday, March 21. District offices will also be closed during Spring Break.

🚓 Heritage Elementary’s School Resource Officer Trey Toney has built great connections with students, but pre-K student Finn Brown is his biggest fan. As part of their transportation unit, students created miniature replica cars for a drive-in movie, and this young learner made his ride look just like Officer Toney’s police car. From the license plate to the numbers, every detail was spot on. Thank you, Officer Toney, for making a lasting impact. 🚓

Yesterday, March 2, was Read Across America Day, but our campuses started celebrating last week. Bear Creek and Bransford Elementary kicked off the fun with a mysterious twist by introducing masked readers, staff members who read stories in disguise, keeping students engaged and guessing. Students had a blast guessing which teacher was behind each mask and matching them to their story!
📖 The celebration continues throughout the week, fostering a love for reading across GCISD! 📖

Grapevine High School AP English Literature and Composition class added rhythm to learning last week! Arthur Murray dancers came in for a two-day lesson to show how poetic meters could be paired with musical selections. The next day they danced out the meters, learning five dances in the process. What a fun way to learn how meters utilize senses and muscle groups to bolster retention when learning something new. Along the way, these students also gained greater appreciation for poetry.
