In observance of Patriot Day and Texas First Responders Day today, students reflected on the events of September 11, 2001, and the bravery, courage, and determination first responders showed on that day in American history as well as the ways our safety partners continue to step in still today to assist others in emergency situations.

To honor the bravery of first responders on September 11, 2001, Grapevine High School Wrestling held their sixth annual 9/11 Tribute Climb this morning at Mustang Panther Stadium. Alongside local first responders, they ascended 1,980 steps, replicating the 110 flights of stairs that 9/11 heroes climbed inside the Twin Towers.

A new bronze wolf statue was unveiled this morning at the front of Cross Timbers Middle School, compliments of the school’s PTA. Commissioned artist Linda Moss worked directly with students last school year by visiting art classes to explain the process. Later, all CTMS students had an opportunity to add their thumbprints on the cast, permanently leaving their mark at the school.
