Today, we hosted a "Shark Tank" experience for Mr. Pearce's Business Classes in the HMS Learning Commons. CJ and Melinda Winslow, owners of Foodtronix, brought the event to our school and enlisted the Sharks to volunteer their time. Students have been preparing their business ideas and presentations for the Sharks for weeks. There will be one team winner per class period and one team winner overall for the day. #GrowingGreatnessHMS


We want to congratulate our HMS Spelling Bee Winners who competed on Friday, December 1st here at HMS! Our 2nd place winner is 7th grader, Arush, and our 1st place winner is 8th grader, Sara! Veterans Day Celebration at HMS
Heritage Middle School will be hosting a special reception and school assembly to honor the Veterans in our community. We would love to have as many Veterans as possible at our assembly, so they may be honored and recognized for their selfless and valued service to our country.

Even if you are unable to attend, you can still send in a picture and information for our Veterans Day slideshow that will play throughout the school and at the assembly. To expedite the visitor check-in process, we will be collecting information for all adults (anyone old enough for a driver's license) to have visitor badges ready ahead of time. This morning, the fire alarm was going off at GCISD's Transportation Building as bus drivers were arriving. The fire department is on the scene and staff is currently waiting for the all clear. However, all bus routes across the district will be delayed this morning. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

GCISD’s Nutrition Services is pleased to announce that parents can now download the MySchoolBucks app to make online prepayments on their child’s school meal account and view transactions. There is a $2.75 processing fee for each transaction.

Tomorrow, 10/11, GCISD will administer the PSAT 8/9 to 8th graders and the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) to grades 9-11. Students in grades 8-11 must bring their charged GCISD-issued device and charger to school.
This year, all high school students, regardless of whether they are taking the PSAT or not, will be expected to report to school at their regular start time of 8:40 a.m. All absences on this day will be documented as normal and will be factored into the requirements for exam exemptions.

October 2 is World Bullying Prevention Day. Join GCISD in wearing blue shirts and boots to kick off the 17th Annual World Day of Bullying Prevention. #WeAreGCISD

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has announced a temporary delay in the release of 2023 A-F accountability ratings for all districts and campuses across the State of Texas. The ratings were originally scheduled for release on September 28 and will now be delayed by approximately one month, according to the TEA’s press release.

Raptor visitor management system is experiencing a system-wide service interruption. The vendor is working to get the issue resolved as soon as possible. Please join us for our first Parent Tech Academy of the school year at the Professional Development & Education Center (PDEC) on September 20th at 6:30 p.m. The technology department will discuss apps that parents use, such as Canvas, Skyward, Lightspeed and Seesaw. Parents will have the opportunity to learn about each app and how they can stay better informed about their child. #WeAreGCISD
