On October 11, 2023, GCISD will administer the PSAT 8/9 to 8th graders and the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) to grades 9-11. Students in grades 8-11 will need to bring their charged GCISD-issued device and charger to school on 10/11.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has announced a temporary delay in the release of 2023 A-F accountability ratings for all districts and campuses across the State of Texas. The ratings were originally scheduled for release on September 28 and will now be delayed by approximately one month, according to the TEA’s press release.

Effective 9/1/2023, Texas House Bill 114 requires a student to be placed in the Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) if the student possesses, uses, or is under the influence of, or sells, gives, or delivers marijuana, THC, or an e-cigarette to another person within 300 feet of school property or at a school-related event.

Update 2:42 p.m.: Power has been restored, and we are releasing students to return to the normal school schedule. All shuttles between the two high schools will run at the usual times. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we worked to resolve the power issue at our campus.
Update 2:37 p.m.: Power is slowly returning in the building, but we remain in a Hold. GHS students shuttling back from CHHS will be transported at 3 p.m. (the normal time). We have determined that this is a GHS power issue. At this time, we are anticipating a normal dismissal.
Update 2:18 p.m.: GHS is currently on a Hold while crews continue to work on restoring power to the campus. Students needing to shuttle to CHHS have been released. CHHS students who take the shuttle after 2 p.m. will not go to GHS. Phones have been transferred to the GCISD main line. We will continue to provide updates.

4th Annual GHS Wrestling 9/11 Tribute Climb
GHS Wrestling cordially invited to the 4th annual GHS Wrestling 9/11 Tribute Climb
WHEN: Monday, 9/11 -- 7:30 AM
WHERE: Mustang Panther Stadium (visitors side - enter by the fieldhouse)
WHAT: 4th annual 9/11 Tribute Climb
DETAILS: Participants will walk the visitor side stairs to simulate the 110 stories or 1980 stairs of the twin towers to honor the first responders that climbed up but never came down.
The event is free and open to anyone who would like to stop by to show support,
participate as a team with each doing a part of the climb, or to individuals climbing the 110 stories in full. A brief program will begin at 7:30 AM, with the climb starting at 7:46 am CST, or 8:46 am EST at which the first plane hit the North Tower.
Shirts are available for purchase for $20 each. To purchase, please fill out this google form and pay the t-shirt vendor, In Stitches, directly by THURSDAY, AUGUST 25th. Shirts will be distributed the morning of the climb.
