Grapevine High School girls soccer played in the UIL Class 5A Region 1 championship tournament April 6-8 and advanced to the State Tournament for the sixth time in nine years.
GHS defeated two teams along the way – Abilene in the Regional Semifinals by a score of 3-1 to secure a spot in the Regional championship game against Wichita Falls Rider and won 4-0.
Head Coach Steve McBride said he is unbelievably proud of the student athletes.
“All season long we have had to overcome obstacles and to get to the final weekend is a testament to this group's toughness and resilience,” he said. “The girls were prepared and executed well. I thought from back to front we were solid in all three phases of play.”
