On March 31, the Grapevine High School girls soccer team faced Midlothian High School and won 3-2 in overtime. By winning the Class 5A Region 1 Quarterfinal match they now advance to the Regional Tournament at Memorial Stadium in Wichita Falls.
Head Coach Steve McBride is excited for the next round of playoffs.
“I’m just super proud of the girls and coaches,” McBride said. “They have had to overcome so much to get to where we are. This season has been filled with setback after setback but have preserved through it all. The way they have continued to stay together and fight through this as a group, ‘bend but don't break’ has been the mentality, and it will serve them well as we move forward with the rest of our season.”
The Lady Mustangs will now face Abilene High School at 3 p.m. Friday, April 7. The winner of that game will play in the Regional Final at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 8, facing the winner of Wichita Falls Rider versus El Paso Andress.
Good luck to this team as they continue their run to the State Tournament.
