GES has viewing glasses, thanks to a partnership with The Perot Museum!!
Our teachers and staff will provide all students with approved eyewear and the opportunity to go outside and observe the eclipse in the afternoon of April 8th. Teachers will train the students on how to use the eyewear as well as other precautions associated with this event. The eyewear is approved by the American Astronomical Society, supported by NASA.
While we are providing protective eyewear, we also ask that you have a conversation with your student before this event. No student should attempt to view the eclipse using anything other than the provided protection glasses. Regular sunglasses do not provide sufficient protection for viewing an eclipse. Please advise your student that looking at the sun without these protections can cause serious, permanent eye injury.
Thanks for working with us to ensure this is a memorable event for us all!

We made it to Spring Break! How will you spend your time off?! #GESShineOn
Last night, the first community bond presentation was held at Colleyville Middle School. Community members joined us to learn more about the 2024 GCISD Bond planning process, propositions and tax rate impact.
Are you ready to learn more? Our next community presentation will be held on March 26, at 6 p.m. at Cross Timbers Middle School. #WeAreGCISD
This week, our staff will be catching for kids reading during Read Across America week! We have partnered with the Grapevine Public Library and have 20 coins to give away for the Grapevine Public Library's book vending machine! #GESShineOn
Swing by the Grapevine Public Library to see our 3rd-5th Grade Art Club's Tiny Art Show! Here's what Art Club student Callie S. had to say about the experience: "During the process of making our projects for the Tiny Art Show, we learned that practice makes perfect, and that we should take our time to make something beautiful."
We are so thankful for Club Sponsors Amanda North and Mariam Rezk, and for community connections that create these opportunities, allowing our stars to shine! The Tiny Art Show will be on display from now until March 31st.
Shout out to GCISD Maintenance and GCISD Technology! These teams worked together to lower a library TV that was mounted too high, so our littlest friends could see it better. Thanks for taking care of us, we appreciate you! #GESShineOn #WeAreGCISD #TeamworkMakestheDreamwork
Mrs. Helms and Ms. Fowler took on our #ChallenGES for the month of February and led their students through a BreakoutEDU while using their math skills. Students had to find the codes to gain access to build a robot to clean the school! Students worked in collaborative groups to problem solve and communicate! They loved it!
Inspired by the works of Salvador Dali, our 4th graders worked on finishing their one point perspective projects this week. The main objectives were to make 2D shapes look 3D by using one point perspective and also to add form to each shape by adding shading. Then they cut out their shapes and pasted them onto a splatter painted background.
Recently, our Student Council students took treats and visited Atria Senior Living. A good time was had by ALL! Way to SHINE, StuCo! #GESShineOn
Don't forget! No school Friday OR Monday! How are you spending the long weekend? #GESShineOn
It's School Resource Officer Day, and we are SO THANKFUL for our SRO, Richard Weber! From a GES student, "He protects our school and makes us smile every day." Be sure to give a shout out to Officer Weber below!

If a book is unavailable, no worries. You can use that gift card in our online book fair! All this and more can be found at efairs.literati.com. (Don't forget to scroll for more info!)
