🎉 Extra recess alert! 🎉 Mrs. Vo's class earned some well-deserved playtime by completing their hallway compliments chart! 🌟 Classes work hard to earn a reward by walking quietly and safely in our hallways. Way to go, kids! 🎉
Today we had our first Principal's Book Club after school for students and families. This month it was geared towards our PreK and Kindergarten students. Our theme was "Where the Wild Things Are." Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Wahpekeche read a fiction and non-fiction book while modeling reading strategies for families. Our students then had the opportunity to make a "wild thing" mask. It was a wildly great time!
Today we celebrate I.T. Professional's Day by shining a spotlight on the amazing Elsa Salazar! 🌟👩💻 Elsa's dedication to managing the tech needs of not one, but TWO schools is truly inspiring. Her hard work ensures that students and teachers have the digital tools they need to succeed. From troubleshooting to computer updates, Elsa does it all with a smile. 😊 Let's show our appreciation for the unsung heroes like Elsa who keep our educational technology running smoothly!
🌟 Tomorrow is Dot Day! 🎉 Let’s celebrate creativity by wearing our favorite polka dots! See you tomorrow 📸👗💖 #DotDay #GESShineOn

First Day of School Safety and Security
Walking your child to class on the first day of school is a time-honored tradition. We want all of our families that choose to be able to walk their child to class on Wednesday, Aug. 14th and take pictures before giving their kids a big hug and wishing them a great day!
However, we need your help! In order to safely have all visitors in the building, EVERYONE (over the age of 18) will need to Raptor in at our kiosks in the vestibule. In an effort to alleviate long lines on the first morning of school, we are allowing families to print their "First Day of School" visitor badge in advance. You may do this at Meet the Teacher on Monday, Aug. 12 from 4:30 - 6:00 OR on Tuesday, Aug. 13 from 8:00-4:00pm. You will simply scan your valid ID and print the badge, then hold onto it until Wednesday morning. When you arrive on campus Wednesday, please plan to wear your badge on your shirt where it can be visible to all staff and have your photo ID available as you enter the building so we can ensure it matches the badge. We will have plenty of staff at the main foyer entrances to allow all those with a printed badge to enter quickly. We appreciate your support and cooperation as we continue this tradition in a safe manner for all students and staff.
Independence Day this year will be on Thursday, Aug. 15th! Families will be able to walk their children to the foyer entrances and send them off into the building independently from there. We will have lots of adults stationed and ready to help escort students to their classrooms.
We hope you found great deals shopping tax-free weekend! Don't forget to label anything and everything that comes to GES with your child's first AND last name so we can return it when it's lost... and it WILL get lost! Thanks for your help!
Meet the Teacher is tomorrow evening! School begins on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024 so we will have Meet the Teacher on Monday night, August 12, 2024 from 4:30-6:00pm. This is a come and go event, so feel free to stop in when your schedule allows. Meet your new teacher, see your new classroom, reconnect with friends, and bring your supplies to leave in your classroom!
Our PTA will be set-up in the cafeteria with various tables and opportunities for families to join the PTA, check out our PTA sponsored clubs and more! Families who purchased a School Supply Pack may pick-up in the gym and take the supplies to their classroom.
We also encourage all families to print their "First Day of School" visitor badge at our kiosks while on campus. (See below for more info.)
Say “hello” to two-way messaging and classroom announcements in the GCISD app! With the addition of Rooms, our district app keeps getting better. Parents/guardians check your email or sms with instructions to sign up and access new features.
Convocation 2024 is in the books! We are excited to work Together for Tomorrow! Thank you to Chicken N Pickle for hosting us and to the Board of Trustees for the generous $500 staff bonus!
🏈 Today, August 1, sign-ups for Junior Captains are officially open! 🏈
As a Junior Captain, pre-K through fifth grade students can step onto the field to deliver the game ball at a home football game and join the team for the coin toss. The applications are open until August 16, and you will find out if your student was chosen in the random drawing by August 23 in an email.
