Manar Elmahi, eighth grade student at Cross Timbers Middle School, received the prestigious Martin D. Jenkins Scholar Award from the National Association for Gifted Children.
This award is designed to honor the achievements of highly gifted Black students who excel academically in school. This is the third consecutive year a GCISD student has earned this national award.
Manar was one of seven students from around the country honored with this award. Her video presentation was shown to a national audience at the National Association of Gifted Children conference on November 19, 2022.
Award recipients receive a $300 scholarship, NAGC convention registration, an invitation to attend a featured session at the national conference, and other prizes.
