Grapevine High School junior Piyush Mallick

Grapevine High School junior Piyush Mallick has achieved perfect scores on the ACT and SAT during the 2024-2025 school year.

Mallick took the ACT for the first time in October 2024 and scored a perfect 36. He has taken the SAT twice—first in November 2024 when he posted 1590, and a second time in March 2025 when he achieved the highest possible score of 1600.

“My first reaction was one of surprise,” he recalls feeling when SAT scores were posted on April 3. “I had been aiming for the score, but did not actually expect to get it. I felt quite happy.”

Perfect SAT and ACT scores are just some of Mallick’s notable achievements. He was also the 2024 UIL 5A Academics individual state champion in number sense and math. In 2025, he was part of the first place cross examination debate team in UIL 5A-District 6. Thus far, he has also taken 15 Advanced Placement exams, achieving top scores in 14.

Mallick, who hopes to pursue a career in computer science, credits the rigorous courses offered in GCISD, along with his teachers who were always willing to help when he had questions about the content. Other GCISD students, Conor McGall and Eric Tong, who earned perfect SAT scores in 2023, expressed similar reasons for success.

When asked if he plans on taking the tests again, Mallick’s response was straightforward.

“I’m done for good.”
