On April 1, the Colleyville Heritage High School and Grapevine High School girls soccer teams secured victories in their regional finals matchups, earning spots in Division 1 and 2 of the UIL 5A State Semifinals.
Colleyville Heritage High School faced a challenging match that included a lightning delay, ultimately winning with a score of 4-2. With this win, the Panthers advance to the UIL 5A Division 1 semifinal game.
CHHS Head Coach Monte Pace remarked, “I am very proud of the girls and the hard work that they have put in this season. They are playing really well and we are looking forward to another great game!”
Grapevine High School overcame a 0-2 deficit, tying the match 3-3 with just 42 seconds remaining in regulation. After overtime, the Mustangs prevailed in a penalty shootout, advancing to the UIL 5A Division 2 semifinal game.
When asked about the team, GHS Head Coach Steven McBride said, “I cannot say enough about the resolve of this team. They have been through such a very physical and emotionally demanding season, and to see them rewarded for their grit is amazing and so well deserved.”
GCISD congratulates both teams on their achievements and wishes them success in the final four.
