GCISD students from Colleyville Heritage High School, Grapevine High School and iUniversity Prep competed at the DECA state competition held March 6-8, at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, and 10 returned as qualifiers to compete at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC), April 26-29, in Orlando, Fla.
Advancing to ICDC is a particularly difficult feat since the Texas chapter is the largest DECA association in the world with more than 23,000 members. At state, students compete in one of 51 events and advance to ICDC if they place in the top two in the virtual business challenges, finish in the 25 in the stock market game, earn Gold Level as a School-Based Enterprise, or participating in the Emerging Leaders Series, a comprehensive leadership program.
ICDC is DECA’s pinnacle event with 10,000 of the top DECA members competing in events that demonstrate students’ college and career knowledge and skills. DECA is a student organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.
