Grapevine High School’s Marching Band will be one of the 12 marching bands from Austria, Ireland and North America that will participate in the 2025 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland, to be held Monday, March 17.
More than half a million spectators are anticipated to gather along the parade route to watch the event, which is shaping up to be Dublin’s largest-ever St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
“This seemed like an opportunity that would be a life-changing event for the students in the program and something that we could use to showcase that Grapevine High School and the Mustang Band are capable of things that are enormous and transformative for our students,” GHS Head Band Director James Rees stated.
The Mayor of Dublin sent a personal letter to notify the GHS band that they were selected. In their application, they included video recordings of their performances and information detailing their repertoire and musical talent.
“They are not only representing GCISD, they are representing Texas and the United States,” Director of Fine Arts Dr. Paul Sikes added. “It’s something that they are going to remember and cherish all of their lives.”
The award-winning band has earned numerous recognitions throughout the years, including being named a Medal of Distinction Maestro Award National Winner and earning numerous UIL honors.
