On Friday, January 24, GCISD swim and dive teams competed at the District 7-5A championship meet, where Colleyville Heritage varsity boys and girls repeated as district champions. Grapevine High varsity boys and girls finished in second place.
Athlete of the Year honors were awarded to CHHS freshman Zach Arthur in boys diving, and sophomore Aiden Tokarski in boys swimming, while GHS sophomore Margaux Wheat received the title in girls diving. Tokarski also broke the school and pool records in the 100 backstroke with a time of 50.68, and Wheat’s diving score of 416.80 qualified for All-American consideration. Congratulations as well to Coaches Daniel Jau and Stacy Marincasiu who were named Outstanding Coaches of the Meet. Jau received the honor for swimming and Marincasiu for diving.
These top finishes qualify the CHHS and GHS varsity boys and girls teams for the UIL 5A Region 2 meet, which will be held in Mansfield at the Debbie Weems Natatorium on February 7-8.
