David Johnson

David Johnson was approved as the district’s new Chief Financial Officer by the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Board of Trustees at the January 13 Regular Monthly Meeting.

Johnson comes to GCISD from Carroll ISD, where he has served as the Assistant Superintendent for Financial Services and Operations since 2022. He brings 20 years of experience in school district finance, having previously served as the Senior Officer of Budget and Finance in Fort Worth ISD and as the CFO for Cleburne and Keene ISDs.

“We are elated to have Mr. Johnson join GCISD and lead our Financial Services Team,” said Superintendent Dr. Brad Schnautz. “The depth of his experience as a CFO and in other areas of finance in the private sector will allow his leadership to make a significant impact in our organization.”

A Certified Public Accountant, Johnson has also held corporate finance roles as a firm manager, senior accountant and tax supervisor with several accounting firms. He is a member of the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO), and serves on the Accounting and Auditing Advisory Committee. He has also served as a panelist on the Texas Society of CPAs Annual School District Accounting and Auditing Conference.

“I’m excited to join the GCISD community and continue strengthening the district’s strong fiscal foundation,” Johnson shared. “The Board and district leadership have done exceptional work in strategic financial planning, effectively educating the community during two pivotal bond and tax ratification elections, and building financial trust. It’s an honor to be selected to carry this important work forward, and I’m committed to serving the citizens and taxpayers of the community.”

Johnson holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Baylor University. He will begin his new role in February.
