GCISD has been awarded the 2025 Award of Excellence in Financial Management by the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO). This is the fourth award the district’s financial services team has received this school year.
The TASBO award recognizes school districts that demonstrate exceptional implementation of professional standards, best practices, and innovative approaches to financial reporting. Criteria for the award are based on the financial accounting and reporting guidelines outlined in the Texas Education Agency's (TEA) Financial Accountability System Resource Guide (FASRG), as well as best practices identified by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO), the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), the Council of the Great City Schools, and the Legislative Budget Board (LBB). Specifically, some of the criteria include having a financial management process, cash management, financial analysis and projections and availability of information.
GCISD will be formally recognized during an awards reception at the 2025 TASBO Engage Conference in Austin on February 26.
