The GCISD Board of Trustees approved the recommendation of Lindsey Fuentes as the district’s new Executive Director of Special Services at its December 16 Regular Meeting.
Fuentes began her career in education as an ESL teacher in Dallas ISD, serving a number of inclusion students through differentiated instruction and developing a passion for special education. She then served as an Educational Diagnostician in DeSoto ISD and Special Education Coordinator in Irving ISD, before spending seven years in College Station ISD in Assistant Director, Director and Executive Director of Special Services roles.
“We're excited to welcome Lindsey to the district, as her extensive experience combined with her strong leadership skills will have an immediate and positive impact,” said Superintendent Dr. Brad Schnautz. “From her time as a teacher to leading a district in special services, she has garnered a variety of experiences that enhance her leadership. We look forward to the valuable contributions she will make in shaping a brighter future for our students and community.”
Her 22-year career in education also spans beyond the classroom and administrative offices. Fuentes is a member of the Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education and has served on the advisory committee of Project SEARCH Transition-to-Work Program. She also has experience as an adjunct professor at Dallas Baptist University and volunteers for Special Olympics.
“I'm excited to be joining the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD community,” Fuentes shared. “I’m dedicated to ensuring all students are afforded the best possible conditions to reach their full potential, and I look forward to working closely with the dedicated staff, parents, and community members to create an environment where every student can thrive.
Fuentes earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Baylor University, a Master of Science in Special Education from Texas A&M Commerce and a Master of Education in Educational Administration from the University of North Texas at Dallas. She will begin her new role in January.
