Congratulations to Colleyville Heritage High School’s band for placing third out of 27 bands and advancing to State after competing at the UIL 5A Area F State Marching Band Contest held Saturday, October 26, at the Birdville Fine Arts Athletic Complex. The state competition will be held Monday and Tuesday, November 4 and 5, at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
Grapevine High School’s band placed sixth and just missed advancing to State since the top five bands moved forward.
“Area F has outstanding band programs and for our two high schools to place in the top six is remarkable,” GCISD Director of Fine Arts Dr. Paul Sikes stated. “It’s a result of the dedication and talent of our students, leadership in our band programs and support of our families.”
The CHHS band is led by Director of Bands William Redd; Assistant Band Directors Jack Zellar and Karson Beer; Percussion Director Nick Beaudet; Guard Director Dr. Martin Godoy; and Percussion Instructors Dan Darrah and Tony Luna.
The GHS band is led by Director of Bands James Rees, Associate Director of Bands Ryan Andre, Assistant Band Director Brandon Slate, Percussion Director Caleb Hinz, Assistant Percussion Director Katie Jobe and Guard Director Ryan Bender.
