GCISD’s Career and Technical Education program launched a scholarship and partnership campaign with two goals: raising $20,000 in scholarships to award to students in the program at the end of the school year and building relationships with businesses that would like to provide opportunities for students.
“Every day our students come in and learn, but being able to connect them with industry partners and provide an opportunity to get out into the real world and to celebrate them at the end with scholarships would mean so much,” CTE Director Stephanie Speaks stated at a breakfast campaign launch on Thursday, October 17.
At the event, attended by community members who have previously supported the program, students from the advanced CTE culinary program, which has students from Colleyville Heritage High School and Grapevine High School, prepared the meal. Flower centerpieces were created by the CTE advanced floral design class at CHHS.
Various scholarship levels are available and donors can also request program or intent specific scholarships.
The campaign is also intended to build partnerships that connect GCISD students to opportunities that further college, career and military readiness.
“It could be hosting interns, being guest speakers, providing one-day job shadowing, or participating in our mock interviews,” Speaks added. “It’s all about providing opportunities for our students.”
To support the campaign through scholarships visit GCISD’s CTE page. Scholarship donations will be accepted through December to provide students the opportunity to apply starting in February. A scholarship recognition event to honor scholarship recipients and their benefactors will be held at the end of the school year. The CTE program thanks the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation for its partnership in managing scholarship donations.
Businesses interested in partnerships may complete the Business and Partnership Interest Form located on the CTE webpage.
