Colleyville Heritage High School Head Golf Coach Ryan Parker, was named the 2023-2024 North Texas High School Girls Golf Coach of the Year by the North Texas High School Golf Coaches Association (NTHSGCA).
“This honor is a pure reflection of the team because they always kept striving to get the most out of each other continually, and the close-knit bond they forged made them believe they could achieve anything,” said Parker on receiving the award.
This award is voted on by other golf coaches within the NTHSGCA.
Last season the Lady Panthers finished in fourth place at the UIL 5A State Championship. This was the first time since 2017 that the Lady Panthers had qualified for the State Championship. Leading up to state, the Lady Panthers finished in third at regionals and were runners up in the District Championship.
When asked what he enjoyed most about last season Parker said, “witnessing the players and team's growth. Whether it was overcoming challenges or significantly improving their skills, as well as the strong team dynamic, where players supported and pushed each other, throughout the entire season, the girls worked together and for each other no matter the situation presented to them,” added Parker.
The Lady Panthers begin their next golf season in the spring semester. The team’s first competition is the Vanessa Close Tournament, which will be held at the Grapevine Golf Course January 26-27.
“I’m excited to see how the upcoming golf season unfolds,” said Parker. “There’s always a lot to look forward to, whether it’s new talent making a splash, seasoned players continuing to impress, the team aiming for a specific achievement and tackling new challenges. I am looking forward to continuing to make a meaningful impact on players' personal growth, both on and off the course.”
