Jayaker Kolli, a Colleyville Heritage High School class of 2019 alumnus, will be on Jeopardy! on June 27, 2024. The 2023 graduate of Rice University and current student at The University of Texas at Austin’s Dell Medical School will be showing his knowledge to the world on Thursday.
How were you selected to be on Jeopardy!?
I auditioned when I was in college after passing the online application test for the show, and I didn’t hear anything for a couple years until late March when I got the call.
What was your experience on the show like?
My experience on Jeopardy! was incredible. I can’t say anything about the show itself or the results, but the crew ran a world-class operation, and I had so much fun! My mom and little sister were able to come, too, and I think they might have had more fun than me, which is saying something. Being on the show was absolutely a once-in-a-lifetime experience and a dream come true.
How did GCISD schools prepare you to succeed after college and in Jeopardy!?
GCISD schools helped me develop both a great foundation of knowledge and the skills to learn even more, in college and now in medical school. From reading Shakespeare for the first time in Mrs. McCormack’s eighth grade English class to studying Spanish with Senora Duck and Avogadro’s number with Mrs. Loughran, all of my educators in GCISD helped me develop my curiosity, and for that I’ll be forever grateful.
