On May 23, Grapevine High School received an award from the Broadway Dallas High School Musical Theater Awards (HSMTA) for outstanding choreography for their performance in “Something Rotten.” This award was received by senior Arianna Aghaaliandastjerdi, junior Annalee Litton, senior Kathleen Manyloun and junior Maxwell Nelson.
The Broadway Dallas HSMTA were created to recognize and support excellence in high school musical theater in North Texas. Students and educators are recognized with an annual awards ceremony modeled after the Tony Awards.
“These four choreographers worked for five months to develop their concepts, skills, and teaching plans. Kathleen, Max, Arianna, and Annalee are incredible people and I couldn't be more proud of their success,” said GHS Theater Director Carla Reasoner.
Also, senior Bradford Arnold won best supporting actor in the Schmidt & Jones Musical Theater Awards for his performance in “Into The Woods.” This is a separate awards ceremony that honors high school musical theater excellence in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
“Bradford Arnold is a young man of many talents; set design, technical theater, dramaturgy and acting. He is so very deserving of this award,” added Reasoner. “We enter competitions not for the accolades or rewards they bring, but for the quality of work that such competitions encourage in us. I tell my students they must work hard, because the fun is in the work. They strive for that fun everyday.”.
Congratulations to GHS theater on their recent success!
