On April 6, GCISD Transportation Services competed at the regional School Bus “Roadeo” event and returned home with top awards. Donna White was awarded first place and Justine Doudera received second place, both in the conventional bus category. Amanda Dise was awarded second place in the transit bus category.
This qualifies all three drivers for the Texas Association of Pupil Transportation (TAPT) state competition, which will be held May 4-5, at West Mesquite High School.
This annual competition is an opportunity for drivers to showcase their driving skills. The competition tests drivers’ comprehension of school bus laws, regulation and safety. Participants also demonstrate their driving ability, including maneuvering a school bus in and around various obstacle courses while being timed.
