Congratulations to GCISD’s Director of Nutrition Services Julie Telesca for not only being named a 2024 Foodservices Achievement Management Excellence Award recipient, but also receiving the organization’s most prestigious honor, the Golden Foodservice Director of the Year Award.
Telesca is an accomplished director, having won School Nutrition Association’s Southwest Regional Director of the Year award in 2018. Over the last three years, she has maintained financial stability and was one of the first districts in her area to create a cooking class for students along with innovative promotions like "Mathematics Monday" and "Literary Lunch," which connects the cafeteria to the classroom. Additionally, a comprehensive plant-based menu rollout has been implemented, which included several new dishes, staff training videos, and marketing through social media posts.
