Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction: Dr. Lisa Pedevilla

On December 11, the GCISD Board of Trustees approved Dr. Lisa Pedevilla as the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

Pedevilla has been serving in this role in the interim capacity since July 2023. Prior to her work in GCISD’s Curriculum and Instruction Department, she had been a campus principal since 2012, leading campuses in both Carroll ISD and at GCISD’s O.C. Taylor Elementary School. Also in Carroll ISD, she gained experience as a Coordinator for 21st Century Learning and Professional Development and Coordinator for K-12 English Language Arts and Social Studies.

“Dr. Pedevilla has done an excellent job serving in the interim role, and I’m looking forward to her leadership,” Superintendent Dr. Brad Schnautz said. “The work she and the academic team do will continue to provide exceptional learning experiences while supporting and building up our educators across GCISD.”

She began her 33-year career in education as an elementary and intermediate school teacher, and later an assistant principal, in Coppell ISD. Pedevilla has received specialized training in Texas Reading Academy and has served on the Texas Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development Board of Directors.

“Throughout my educational career, my passion has consistently revolved around curriculum and instruction, making this opportunity both thrilling and deeply meaningful,” Pedevilla remarked. “It is with great honor that I take on this new responsibility, and I am excited about the potential for positive impact and growth in our district. I look forward to collaborating closely with the dedicated members of the academic team, as well as building strong partnerships with principals, teachers, and other staff members across our educational community.”

Pedevilla has a Bachelor of Science in Education from Baylor University, a Master of Science in Educational Administration from the University of North Texas, and a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University. She will begin her new role immediately.
