The GCISD Board of Trustees approved the recommendation of Kelly Mires as the district’s new Chief Human Resources Officer at its December 11 Regular Meeting.
Mires comes to GCISD from Coppell ISD, where she has led the Human Resources Department as the Executive Director of Human Resources since 2017. Prior to CISD, she spent 17 years in the Human Resources Department at Allen ISD as a Director of Human Resources and Staffing Coordinator. She began her work in human resources in Canyon ISD, after five years as an elementary school teacher in Dallas and Garland ISDs.
“Kelly has a great deal of experience in human resources leadership and will be a tremendous asset to GCISD,” said Superintendent Dr. Brad Schnautz. “I’m confident that through her collaboration with the human resources team, we will continue to remain a destination district that excels in the recruitment and retention of exceptional staff.”
She has served in various leadership roles within districts as a member of an economic development committee, a community outreach strategic planning committee, a budget action team, and other HR-related advisory committees.
“I am eager to begin my role with the Human Resources Department in GCISD, where the focus lies on cultivating meaningful relationships and the strategic recruitment and retention of high quality employees,” Mires said. “I’m excited to contribute to the development of a workplace where the pursuit of excellence is underlined by a commitment to our students and employees.”
Mires earned a Bachelor of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies from Texas Tech University, and a Master of Education in Education Administration. She also received her Texas Superintendent’s Certification from the University of Texas at Arlington. She will begin her work in GCISD January 2, 2024.
