Becky St. John was elected to Place 2 on the GCISD Board of Trustees by a majority vote in the May 1, 2021 Election with 100 percent of precincts reporting, according to unofficial results posted by Tarrant County Elections Administration.
Additionally, no candidate has secured the necessary majority in order to secure Place 1 on the GCISD Board of Trustees. This will necessitate a runoff election between Shannon Braun and Mindy McClure to be held on June 5, 2021. Additional details, including early voting dates and locations and election day times and locations, will be shared in the coming days. On November 15, 1999 the GCISD Board of Trustees passed a resolution requiring a candidate to receive a majority of the votes cast for a position, and provides for a runoff election to be held if no candidate for a position receives a majority of votes cast for that position.
In the election for Place 1, Shannon Braun received 5,199 votes (47.87%), Mindy McClure received 4,273 votes (39.34%) and Sergio Harris received 1,389 votes (12.79%). In the election for Place 2, Becky St. John received 5,762 votes (53.23%) while her opponent, Stetson Clark, received 5,063 votes (46.77%).
Final results for Place 2 will be canvassed and the elected trustee will be issued the oath of office and begin their new term on GCISD's Board of Trustees at an upcoming Board meeting.
