Grapevine-Colleyville ISD has announced that Derick Sibley will become the new Chief Financial Officer. Trustees approved the appointment at the April 14 Special Board of Trustees Meeting.

Sibley joins GCISD from Pleasant Grove ISD in Texarkana, where he has served as the Chief Financial Officer since 2017. Prior to his time in PGISD, he spent eight years as Business Manager in Hughes Springs ISD. Sibley also has experience in the classroom as a teacher and coach in Carlisle ISD, Rice Consolidated ISD and Boling ISD.

“Derick is a hands-on leader with extensive knowledge and experience in school finance who comes highly recommended by all who have worked alongside him,” said Superintendent Dr. Brad Schnautz. “He has what it takes to serve our district well in this capacity, and I am confident that he will make a positive difference in the GCISD community.”

Throughout his career, Sibley has served in leadership roles in various professional, civic and community organizations, including Chair of the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) Accounting and Finance Committee, Secretary of the TASBO Professional Certification Committee and President of the Northeast Texas-TASBO Affiliate.

“I am excited to join Grapevine-Colleyville ISD,” Sibley said. “The district has a history of success, and my family and I are thrilled to be a part of continuing to build on that solid foundation. I have a true passion for school finance and leadership, and am honored to be selected to serve in this role. Dr. Schnautz and the leadership team have been wonderful. I can’t wait to join the team and get to know the wonderful people of GCISD.”

Sibley earned his Bachelor of Science from Stephen F. Austin University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He is a Certified Administrator of School Finance and Operations, a Registered Texas School Business Administration, and holds superintendent, principal and teacher certifications in the state of Texas. Sibley will begin in GCISD on April 24.
