GCISD has named Lesa Shocklee as the new Executive Director of Special Services. Trustees approved the appointment at the March 27 Board of Trustees Meeting.
Shocklee comes to GCISD from Little Elm ISD, where she has served as the Executive Director of Special Populations since 2021. Prior to LEISD, she served in the same role for five years in Mansfield ISD, and also has experience as an Assistant Director of Special Education in Keller ISD and the Director of Special Programs in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD. She also serves on Texas Education Agency advisory panels for special education.
“Lesa has a proven successful track record of leading special education departments,” Superintendent Dr. Brad Schnautz said. “We are excited that she will continue the path of excellence Dr. Wiechmann has established.”
Before her service in district leadership roles, Shocklee taught special education at the elementary level and provided co-teach, inclusion, and resource. She has also served as an elementary behavior intervention teacher and educational diagnostician.
"It is such an exciting opportunity to join this organization of great leaders and educators, and bring my expertise for the continued growth and success of our students,” Shocklee said. “I am honored and humbled to serve GCISD students, parents, and staff in the community, and grateful for the confidence of the Board and Dr. Schnautz in my ability to lead this incredible team."
Shocklee earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from San Jose State University, a Master of Arts in Special Education from Santa Clara University, and a Diagnostician Certification from Texas Woman’s University. She will begin her role in GCISD April 24.
