GCISD has been honored for the tenth year as one of the Best Communities for Music Education. Presented to only 830 school districts across the country in 2023, this designation from the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation recognizes the District's exceptionally high commitment and access to music education.
"Being named one of the Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation is truly an honor for GCISD. Our entire community believes in the importance of Fine Arts and knows the positive difference it can make in a young person's life. This commitment is reflected in the support our community, school board, and administration show in the way of facilities, budgets, schedules, etc. The commitment is shown by our teachers who spend countless hours, before and after school, working with kids to help them reach their potential. And the commitment is shown by our students who dedicate themselves to excellence every day."
To qualify for the designation the District had to answer detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs.
