GCISD Families and Staff,

We are excited to welcome our students and families back into our schools August 17 as we start the new year. This will be my 13th year as Superintendent of Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, and I’m proud to share with you just a few of the things we’ve been planning this summer to ensure another successful year for our students.

We know that the safety of our students and staff is top of mind for everyone, and our leadership remains committed to providing a secure learning environment in GCISD. The tragedy that occured in Uvalde was a harsh reminder that we must all stay diligent in our efforts to do just that. Before our students return, please take a moment to review the extensive safety protocols, procedures, and operations of GCISD, as well as learn about updates taking place this school year. In addition, a detailed safety video is available on the GCISD TV YouTube channel to remind everyone of the Standard Response Protocols. Most importantly, we want to remind you that we all play a critical role in keeping our schools safe, and we ask for your continued partnership and support of our security efforts.

Additionally, we have prepared our buildings for the new school year in a number of ways. Our facility services staff has worked tirelessly to perform preventative maintenance, check the function of every door, make repairs, clean and prepare our HVAC systems, and clean our buildings and grounds. Contractors have also replaced 20 HVAC units in four of our schools, nine schools received new flooring and indoor/outdoor painting, and four of our elementary schools received new playground equipment.

Finally, I want to express my gratitude for the work of our incredible staff in GCISD. These past few years have been full of unexpected situations and difficult transitions, but our staff’s commitment to our students has never waivered. That commitment has been evident this summer as employees throughout the district have worked to prepare for the year ahead. While the upcoming year will not be free of challenges, it will also be full of exciting opportunities. The perseverance of our educators and their will to do what it takes for our students is recognized, appreciated, and celebrated. I’m inspired as we head into the new year of Building Excellent Schools Together.

Have a great first day of school GCISD!
