At the June 20 Board of Trustees meeting, Dr. Kalee McMullen was approved as the new Executive Director of Instructional Leadership for Grapevine-Colleyville ISD.

McMullen is presently the Executive Director of Leadership and Development at Midlothian ISD where she is responsible for the supervision of all of the district’s principals, developing campus leaders, supporting principals in strategic planning, and creating a pipeline of future leaders. Prior to that role, she served as the principal of Midlothian High School. McMullen, who started in the teaching profession as a high school English teacher and girls’ softball and wrestling coach, also has experience as a middle school principal, academic associate principal and assistant principal.

As a campus leader, McMullen increased the level of communication with staff, students, parents and the community; implemented data-driven instruction to ensure student success; provided opportunities for teacher-driven continuous improvement; and led her middle school to be recognized as a Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase School.

“Dr. McMullen is a strong, collaborative leader with an unwavering focus on continuous improvement and a track record of results,” Superintendent Dr. Brad Schnautz said. “She exemplifies a commitment to academic excellence while fostering positive relationships with those she serves. She will be an excellent addition to our leadership team.”

“I am beyond excited,” McMullen said. “GCISD is such an incredible school district with a rich tradition of excellence and I am eager to start building relationships and working collaboratively with our principals and everyone across the district to continue the great work of providing excellent schools for our students, staff, families and community.”

McMullen earned both a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Liberty University. She will join GCISD June 26.
