This week, Heritage Elementary School students showed off their love of reading and fall by designing and painting pumpkins as their favorite books to display in the Learning Commons. The Book Character Pumpkin Patch was a great way to showcase their artistic skills and celebrate the season! #WeAreGCISD
Last night, Argyle Liberty Christian and Grapevine High School played the first outdoor stadium volleyball match in Texas high school sports history at Liberty Christian’s Warrior Stadium. The game was under the bright lights and in 20-mile-an-hour winds on a court used for the last three NCAA Volleyball Championships. Despite the different conditions, the Mustangs won in four sets. Congratulations!

Did you know that even with the three additional "golden pennies" from the passage of the VATRE, the total tax rate (Maintenance & Operations plus Interest & Sinking) will be lowered by $0.0014 from the 2023 total tax rate? This is due to state compression on the M&O tax rate and a board-approved decrease on the Interest & Sinking tax rate.

Congratulations to Timberline Elementary School staff for being one of the top three schools in the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation’s Annual Employee Giving campaign. RBFCU is partnering with the foundation to present each of the three top campuses with $500. They visited Timberline on Friday, October 25. Who will be the third campus? Do you know what the flashing lights on a bus mean? Yellow flashing lights mean the bus is preparing to stop, and motorists should slow down. Red flashing lights and extended stop arms mean the bus has stopped. Motorists must stop and wait until the lights stop flashing, the stop arm is retracted and the bus moves before driving again. There was a great turnout at GCISD’s annual College and Career Night! Students and parents from across the district connected with more than 120 colleges, universities and military representatives. Attendees also had the chance to hear a workshop on the Federal Application for Student Aid (FAFSA). A big thank you to GCISD’s counseling team for organizing the event and to our community partner Frost Bank for providing water bottles for attendees. Check out some of the pictures!

This proposition will ask GCISD voters to consider a three-cent increase to the Maintenance and Operations (M&O) tax rate that, if approved, would generate approximately $6 million in revenue that would be used to fund daily operating expenses such as staff, instruction, transportation, maintenance, utilities and extracurricular activities.
If Proposition A fails, GCISD will have to reduce staffing (87% of the budget is personnel) and student programs, which would impact every campus and department, and discussions of additional cost-saving measures would also be considered.
