DECA students from Grapevine High School and iUniversity Prep teamed up for an unforgettable field trip to the Dallas Mavericks business and basketball event! They got an inside look at professions in the sports industry, learned from top industry professionals and saw how business plays a role behind the scenes. They were also invited to stay for the Mavs game that evening.
Way to go, future business leaders! #WeAreGCISD

Yesterday, March 2, was Read Across America Day, but our campuses started celebrating last week. Bear Creek and Bransford Elementary kicked off the fun with a mysterious twist by introducing masked readers, staff members who read stories in disguise, keeping students engaged and guessing. Students had a blast guessing which teacher was behind each mask and matching them to their story!
📖 The celebration continues throughout the week, fostering a love for reading across GCISD! 📖

Grapevine High School AP English Literature and Composition class added rhythm to learning last week! Arthur Murray dancers came in for a two-day lesson to show how poetic meters could be paired with musical selections. The next day they danced out the meters, learning five dances in the process. What a fun way to learn how meters utilize senses and muscle groups to bolster retention when learning something new. Along the way, these students also gained greater appreciation for poetry.

GCISD Nutrition hosted Literary Lunch at Bransford Elementary, where Dr. Schnautz and Chef Jason read "Every Night is Pizza Night" to a cafeteria full of students eating... wait for it... pizza! Dr. Schnautz also jumped behind the lunch line to help dish out several slices. Three students were also randomly selected to take home a free copy of the book. Be on the lookout for Dr. Schnautz and Chef Jason to be reading at your campus during another Literary Lunch in the future.

Most GCISD students have a long weekend ahead with no school on Friday, February 14, and Monday, February 17!
❤️ ️Friday, Feb. 14, was originally scheduled as a bad weather make-up day, however, GCISD’s 2024-2025 instructional calendar has a sufficient number of minutes to cover the recent weather-related closure and the days will not have to be made up. This closure excludes Collegiate Academy, iUniversity Prep and the GCISD administration building.
🇺🇸 Monday, Feb. 17, is a Staff Professional Development Day for all GCISD schools except Collegiate Academy.
Review the 2024-2025 instructional calendar by visiting www.gcisd.net/instructional-calendars.

🌍 This week, Bear Creek Elementary turned into a global adventure! Students traveled "Around the World," exploring diverse cultures and traditions. It was a fun journey of learning for students and staff! 🌍 #WeAreGCISD

Yesterday, GCISD’s Nutrition Services served up a helping of math. For Mathematics Monday, students in elementary and middle schools received a math problem on their sugar cookie. Thank you to our Nutrition Services for always finding creative ways to connect the classroom to the cafeteria. Can you solve the math problem?

Last week, Grapevine Elementary students heard from Farah Zuberi on a school-wide video chat. Zuberi is a former GES student who is now the Director of Spacecraft Mission Management at Firefly Aerospace. As a culminating event for the school’s One School One Book reading celebration, Zuberi taught GES students about the Blue Ghost lunar lander and outer space.
