
Finance Facts: Property taxpayers in GCISD have contributed another $63.8 million to the state in 2023 through recapture. This is required by state law and the amount is owed even when the state has surplus revenues far beyond what it is charging in recapture.

How do tie-dye and dyslexia go together?
Cannon Elementary celebrated Dyslexia Awareness Month by tie-dyeing shirts. The students learned that, just like tie-dye shirts, every student is unique in their own beautiful way. One student even remarked that Cannon is “like tie-dye because we are all tied together like a family.” #WeAreGCISD

Tomorrow, 10/11, GCISD will administer the PSAT 8/9 to 8th graders and the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) to grades 9-11. Students in grades 8-11 must bring their charged GCISD-issued device and charger to school.
This year, all high school students, regardless of whether they are taking the PSAT or not, will be expected to report to school at their regular start time of 8:40 a.m. All absences on this day will be documented as normal and will be factored into the requirements for exam exemptions.

This month, Cannon Elementary read How to Build an Insect for their STEM Book Challenge. Students were then challenged to build an insect model at home and bring it to school to place it in the model habitats in the library. What a great project! #WeAreGCISD
