Last Friday, iUniversity Prep students had their annual back-to-school bash at Harvest Hall in Grapevine. Students from around the area and across the state were able to hang out with their fellow classmates and teachers. #WeAreGCISD

Yesterday, the Grapevine Community Partner Award was presented to GCISD students Mason Schupp and Brody Hunter as representatives of the Young Men’s Service League, an organization that continually gives back by helping at events like GrapeFest and Nash Farm. Mason and Brody accepted this award alongside their mothers, Janet Schupp, Founder and President of the Grapevine Chapter, and Shauna Hunter, a Learning Liaison at Grapevine Middle School. Congratulations to these two GCISD families!

The GCISD Career and Technical Education (CTE) department continues to build exciting partnerships between industry leaders and our students that create invaluable opportunities for hands-on experience. Recently, Community Impact spoke with CTE Director Stephanie Speaks to learn more about these opportunities. Check out the front-page article to learn more about the program and the mock job interviews taking place in October: https://editions.communityimpact.com/view/606938207/.

In observance of Patriot Day and Texas First Responders Day on September 11, students reflected on the events of September 11, 2001, and the bravery, courage, and determination first responders showed on that day in American history as well as the ways our safety partners continue to step in still today to assist others in emergency situations.

Tomorrow, September 11, we honor Patriot Day, a day to remember the bravery, unity and resilience that our nation showed on 9/11.
We invite the GCISD community to commemorate this day by sharing your Patriot Day photos with us and using #WeAreGCISD.

GCISD will have a Voter-Approved Tax Ratification Election (VATRE) on the November 5 ballot, where voters will consider a three-cent increase to the Maintenance & Operations (M&O) tax rate.
Quiz time: Which of the three statements about the VATRE are true?
◾Even with the passage of the VATRE, GCISD’s total tax rate will be lower.
◾Tax funds collected through these additional three pennies would stay within GCISD and not be subject to recapture.
◾The three-cent increase to the Maintenance and Operations (M&O) tax rate would generate approximately $6 million for school district operations.
◾All of the above
The answer is D, all of the above! Ready to learn more about the VATRE? Visit www.GCISD.net/VATRE.

Update: Phone service has been restored across the district. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this brief outage.

GCISD is currently experiencing intermittent district-wide phone outages, but all facilities have power. The district is working to identify the issue and restore service. In the meantime, if you need to communicate a message to our schools or the district, please do so via email.
