Yesterday, teachers and students from West Lothian, Scotland, who are part of the Sister Cities Program that is partnered with the City of Grapevine, visited the Colleyville Heritage golf team. Both West Lothian and CHHS students participated in an exhibition golf match and were greeted by a special guest, 2024 U.S. Open Golf Champion Bryson DeChambeau. Students had the opportunity to ask Dechambeau questions about his game and take pictures with the U.S. Open Trophy. #WeAreGCISD

Attention residents 65 years and older: Once a property owner receives an over-65/disability homestead exemption, there is a tax ceiling on their school taxes, meaning the amount paid in school taxes on that home cannot increase as long as you own and live in that home, unless you make additions that would increase the value of the home. Learn more at www.GCISD.net/VATRE.

To celebrate Collegiate Academy becoming one of only seven North Texas schools to earn the National Blue Ribbon School distinction from the U.S. Department of Education, CA hosted a “Blue Out” today. Colleyville Elementary's fourth and fifth graders wrapped up an amazing student council election guided by counselor Katie Segretti and learning liaison Ashley Francis. Candidates gave campaign speeches, and every student received a voter registration card and "I Voted" sticker after submitting their ballot. It was an excellent way for students to experience the entire voting process firsthand and learn about civic responsibility!

Congratulations to Asher Allen, a fifth grader at Heritage Elementary School, for being an outstanding Junior Captain at last week’s CHHS football game! Thanks to the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation, Asher had the honor of delivering the game ball to the field and joining the team for the coin toss. #WeAreGCISD

If you are seeing dots at schools this week, it is in celebration of International Dot Day, a fun day to connect, collaborate and create. The day was actually September 15, but schools are celebrating all week long. Enjoy the pictures from Timberline, where students in the school’s Cultural Artistic Leadership Academy Art Studio created designs inspired by artists from Spain and celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month. At Bear Creek, students and staff dapperly dressed in dots passed a giant pencil to symbolize the mark that these creators will make on the world.

This day honors the freedoms, rights and responsibilities we enjoy as American citizens. In GCISD, our students dove into the history and significance of the Constitution, exploring the foundations of our democracy and what it means to be an informed citizen.
